  1. This style of fan is a little frightening!
Some fans like to dress up as characters, made painfully obvious in the phenomenon that is cosplay.
Looks pretty fun to me. Check out the fans in the link below!

    1. Yeah, fans can totally take things to far! Some of them really need to calm down...

Thanks for the link! :D That picture kind of scared me, haha. Fans + crowds = not a good idea. It kind of looks like a mob!

  3. Raashka,

Interesting blog, fans have been known to do some fairly dangerous and sinister things globally. How does society in general deal with this issue? Do people feel any empathy towards these "idols" or does society just think it's part of the job? Just a couple of suggestions - you may want to re-look at the list of links you have, above - and perhaps put what the links are rather than numbers - otherwise why would anyone want to click on them?
Another point to consider - the requirements are a range of sources - and ones that have some substance ... that is to support the slightly more "academic" aspect of the blog ...at the moment most of the sites are very similar and all seem to be "fan style magazines"

    1. Yes, fans are especially dangerous because, I think, of the way most of them claim to do all these things out of "love."

From what I've read, most of society is somewhat repulsed by the way these obsessive fans act. I've even read some accounts of fans leaving certain fandoms because of how people have acted out against the idols. I know that many people empathize with the way obsessive fans feel, but I don't think (or it doesn't seem so) that they empathize with their actions.

I'll definitely be looking into more academic-based links, thank you. I just chose to add more "fan styled magazines," as you said, because I thought the best way to discuss obsessive fans was getting the opinions of the fans in general.

    2. Cool, fair enough - however if we are trying to make a point it probably pays to get lots of different perspectives to support our arguments, especially today. Looks good.

  4. As i a fan myself i like to be always aware what is my favorite star is up to, where it is, what it is thinking etc. And i strongly believe that if those people made their career in public apperances of any sort they should realise that being under the limelight of their fans obsession is a part of their job. Even though they might not like the excessive attention of their fans. The maths is simple...more fans = more popularity, more popularity = success.

  5. OMG. I never knew fans can go as far as they have in your article. I literally had to read some sentences twice or even three times just to make sure I was reading it correctly. Im scared that one day, a celebrity might come come across his/her last breathe on earth due to an obsessive fan trying too hard to make a memorable moment.

What is anyone doing to try and stop such craze? I mean, some fans are ruining the chances for others to see their favorite idols cause of their stupidity. It is just shocking and utterly sickening to read what some fans are willing to do just to be noticed by a celeb. Its sad. Real sad.

Good read by the way (:
